Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In order to familiarize a femtocell base station to standard home, we should tackle reduction in hardware size, power consumption and cost. On the other hand, to improve the radio channel quality, it is effective that we apply spatial diversity by using multiple antennas to the femtocell base station. However, we must increase the number of RF units depending on the number of antennas, so femtocell base station’s power consumption and its cost increase. On the other hand, antenna Selection diversity provides the radio channel quality improvement without increasing the number of RF units, but it has poorer performance than the diversity system using all the equipped antennas. In this paper, we evaluate the effect of antenna selection receive diversity scheme quantitatively by the radio transmission experiment. The experimental results in femtocell environment show that the antenna selection receive diversity scheme selecting two antennas out of four antennas can yield throughput improvement of about 30 percent and reduction of required transmission power in about 4 dB.
