Experimental Evaluation of Line-of-Sight MIMO by using Block and Reflector in Sub-Urban Area

(in English) In a line-of-sight(LOS) multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) communication, the actual throughput decreases due to the influence of a direct wave in high SNR environments with high spatial correlation. This paper reports experimental evaluation in sub-urban area by the MIMO transmission equipment using a receiver antenna reduces the influence of the direct wave by the block plates and receives the reflect wave from the ground by the reflectors. The antenna is fabricated by arranging the block plates and reflectors around a omni-directional antenna. We performed the transmission experiment in Hokkaido University Sapporo Campus and obtained the result that the throughput of LOS MIMO is improved by use of the block plates and the reflectors.
