This paper proposes a new design method based on spherical mode expansion
to optimize MIMO antenna directivities
and to derive current distributions for optimal antenna directivities.
Antenna directivities are expanded by spherical wave functions and spherical mode coefficients,
where the number of spherical mode is limited by the given antenna volume.
In this paper, we derive the optimal antenna directivities to maximize average channel capacity
given the antenna volume and angular profile of the environment.
Furthermore, we also derive the current distributions for the optimal antenna directivities
, where the current distributions are expanded by orthogonal basis functions and coefficients
based on a Galerkin method. |
