Waveguide-based linear-circular polarization converters using total internal reflections

(in English) Waveguide-based linear-circular polarization converters using total internal reflections are analyzed by the beam-propagation method.First, we consider a waveguide-based Fresnel rhomb.An ellipticity of less than 0.4 dB is obtained over a wide wavelength range of $0.4$ $\mu \rm{m}$ to $2.0$ $\mu \rm{m}$.In order to achieve the input and output terminals on the same optical axis, we consider a waveguide-based inline Fresnel rhomb.To widen the range of the available refractive index of a waveguide, we propose a modification of a waveguide-based Mooney rhomb.Finally, by using a material whose refractive index is higher than SiO$_2$, we demonstrate that the polarization conversion can be realized by only a single total internal reflection.
