Millimeter-wave orthogonal polarization MIMO transmission using circular polarized wave

(in English) In order to achieve ultra high speed transmission over 10Gbps in next generation WLAN/WPAN (Wireless Local Area Networks/Wireless Personal Area Networks), MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) transmission will be necessary even in the millimeter wave band. However, as LOS (Line-of-sight) propagation is expected and directional antenna is used in the millimeter wave band, we have proposed orthogonal polarization MIMO transmission to maintain orthogonality between two channels. When we use liner polarization for MIMO transmission,different transmission performance is observed according to the polarization if the beam width of directional antenna is not narrow enough. To solve this problem, this paper proposes orthogonal circular polarization MIMO transmission and describes the distribution of received level and BER performance using a ray-tracing method.
