This study describes the development of a sensitive wheelchair built in a bio-instrumentation by a compact pressure sensor which is composed of a hetero-core optical fiber. The pressure sensor brews up agile and linear optical loss in response to the weight pushed to a hetero-core portion. By mounting two pressure sensors on the back of a wheelchair, we attempted to measure the respiration and lean of the upper body of a wheelchair user, and detect the body motions of the user rowing one stroke. In this paper, we could confirm the feasibility of the sensitive wheelchair from the experimental results obtained. |
