The author has been investigating the mechanism of linguistic communication system, by separating the system into information source, transmitter, channel, noise, receiver, destination, where syllable based symbols circulate.
In the following, the author demonstrates that all the linguistic functions can be explained by nerve cells’ basic quantum switch functions: sensing, memorization/storage/reminiscence (recovery and recognition), judgment (dichotomy, dualism), motor control.
There are scholars who claim that human special Language Acquisition Device (LAD) and human special genes for grammars exist, both of which have not yet been discovered or identified. It is possible that such human specialty does not exist. Human specific anatomical structures are (i) Vocal Tract with Laryngeal Descent for the vocalization of vowels and with neural basis for sophisticated motor control, and (ii) Mother Tongue Phonemic Trace Memories at Wernicke area. The extremely efficient information exchange enabled by language does not seem to be the results of brain evolution or generation of specific genome, but are functions of autopoietic nerve cell networks and digital combinatoric structure of infinite words.
Humans have a brain some 4 times larger than chimpanzees, which provide humans with voluminous memory storage for empirical and logical meanings. Concrete concepts are empirical memories (and memory system) connected to a word, an acoustic symbol composed by permutation of digital signals, while grammatical words and abstract concepts are connected to logical memories. They are all operated by basic nerve cell functions. If so, human nature is good. |
