The aim of this study was to clarify the mechanical action of the infant tongue during sucking. In this study, we developed an artificial nipple that contained multiple small built-in force sensors, and measured tongue-artificial nipple contact pressure during infant sucking. This system places six force sensors in a two-dimensional matrix state, and the estimate of the pressure distribution is possible. Measurements were taken in three infants, the output waveform was observed from all force sensors. In addition, with a sensor unit using a hexagon pillar, the results showed that the main force of the tongue was applied from under the nipple. |
