Estimation of Internal Human Body Resistances for Low Frequency Using Various Human Models -- Relation with BMI --

(in English) In order to assess electrical safety issues, internal body resistances and equipotential distributions at power frequency using an anatomical human model were calculated in the previous study when two electrodes were attached to surfaces of the human model under typical current path. The study is now extended to the case using some realistic human models which have different physical size, defined as Body Mass Index (BMI). As a result, the calculated internal body resistances correlate weakly with the BMI. This reason can be thought that occupancies of the internal resistance for the wrist and ankle are different in the models. However, except for the wrist and ankle the internal resistance correlates strongly with the BMI. In addition, a relation between BMI and dimensional ratio of resistance based on actual anthropometric measurements results in good agreement with that of the human models. This indicates the possibility to estimate the internal resistance from the anthropometric measurements.
