Passive Optical Network Based on Orthogonal Subcarrier Division Multiplexing Technique Using 16-QAM

(in English) We propose an Orthogonal Subcarrier Division Multiplexing Passive Optical Network (OSDM-PON) using a digital shift keying to economically provide higher bit rate services to users. At the first evaluation, we assume that 16-QAM is used as a digital shift keying, and service bit rate of 1 Gbps is provided to each user at all times. To examine its feasibility, we first consider an electricity-based OSDM-PON that can be simply configured in a simulator. We next discuss an optics-based OSDM-PON that is our objective. For the electricity-based OSDM-PON, we show the feasibility of the system that supports up to 32 ONUs. For the optics-based OSDM-PON, we show that the system can support up to 16 ONUs; we clarify each ONU needs to send signals using different wavelength to avoid the beating noise. We also propose a new assignment of subcarriers to the wavelengths to increase the margin of the subcarrier frequency interval in the optical domain. We also specify the subcarrier frequencies.
