Virtual Road Generating Algorithm(VRG) for Dynamic Lane Keeping Control

(in English) In late years, the automotive safety is improved by the development of the sensing and telecommunication technologies. A study is shifting from the driving support system for the purpose of preventing an accident to development of the automatic operation system which demands comfort in the ITS. The authors have developed Vehicular Collision Avoidance Support System (VCASS) in order to prevent collisions between vehicles. In this paper, we consider a simple type automatic driving system which attaches dynamic lane keeping control to collision avoidance function of VCASS. We propose Virtual Road Generating Algorithm (VRG) to enable this dynamic lane keeping control. By using this method, it is possible to platooning in general vehicles. We show the effectiveness of the algorithm by experiments that use some cars.
