A Basic Study of Classification Method of Target Scattering for Ambient Noise Imaging with Acoustic Lens

(in English) We designed and made an aspherical lens with an aperture diameter of 1.0 m for Ambient Noise Imaging. It was expected that this acoustic lens realizes directional resolution, which is a beam width of 1 degree at the center frequency of 120 kHz over the field of view from -7 to +7 degrees. The prototype system was developed to arrange the hydrophone array on the focal plane of this lens, and was deployed on the barge ‘OKI SEATEC II’ moored in Uchiura Bay on November, 2010. Here, the silent target detection trial was conducted under only ocean natural ambient noise, which was mainly generated by snapping shrimps. The received signals were classified roughly into silent periods and pulses. Additionally, the pulses were consisted with target scatterings converged through the lens and biological noises directly received by the hydrophone array without the lens. In this study, we proposed a classification method to extract the target scatterings from the received signals. The preliminary data analysis results as of this writing shows that a target image is successfully detected.
