[Requested talk] Subjects of signal processing and error correction coding in high density magnetic recording system

(in English) In this paper, I discuss some subjects to concern with signal processing and error correction coding in a channel of high density magnetic recording. In the recording, a combination of signal processing and error correcting codes becomes critical to improve an error rate performance. Binary LDPC codes have been adopted to a read-back processing on a hard disk drive at present. Non-binary LDPC codes have been also being studied to get higher gain than the LDPC codes for the drive. I give some results derived from our study which has different approaches to the LDPC codes on the read-back processing.
