A Study on Hybrid Network Architecture with OCDM technology

(in English) Optical circuit switching (OCS) technology is mostly uses in all optical network. Most OCS network, the fibers are multiplexed by WDM and one wavelength is assigned to one connection. However, OCS technology needs to pre-configure the optical path before transmitting data, and the pre-configuring overhead requires more than round-trip-time between source node and destination node. This pre-configuring overhead also exist when we set up optical CDM paths on WDM. Therefore, when the data transmission delay is small, the influence of the pre-configuring overhead becomes large. In this thesis, we propose a hybrid network architecture and control method to reduce this influence. Our hybrid arcitecture includes broadcast network in addition to OCS network, all traffic is transferred on the selected network by the traffic characteristics. We evaluate the basic performances of OCS network and broadcast network by transferring some kinds of data and reveal that the broadcast network can transfer the data more efficiently than the OCS network when the data size is small.
