| （英） | Programming educators have not focused on examining learner abilities, characteristics, interests and attitudes to programming for designing a course. They determine some strategies of the design without learner practical information. Moreover, they often emphasize the course objectives and syllabus rather than every student improvement. They require all of the students to adapt to their course design. This method is not fair under educational viewpoint, since it does not motivate all types of the students. It may demotivate those who cannot adjust themselves to adapt to the course design, which may cause them drop out of the class. This paper introduces a method to accomplish an optimum course design for a programming course, which meets both student requirements and the course objectives. First, we use contextual inquiry method on students who have just taken the course to get requirements from the learners. By this way, we can understand real and up-to-date requirements from the learners. According to these requirements, we find out services to motivate the learners in the next course. We also settle services for our course objectives. Next, we integrate these services into a course plan. We apply the course plan to actual student classes and get genuine behavior data from the students during the course. This genuine data help us to evaluate the course plan and improve it. We have been applying this method in C programming classes in academic years2010 and 2011 for more than 500 freshmen. The method reveals a successful result. |
