Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The standardization activities of microwave wireless LAN system for next generation, which targets more than 1 Gbit/s of system throughput, started in IEEE802.11 task group (TG)ac, which targets more than 1 Gbit/s of system throughput. One of the key techniques to achieve such high throughput is downlink (DL) multi-user MIMO (MU-MIMO). DL MU-MIMO technique enables simultaneous transmission of data to multiple terminals at the same time and on the same radio frequency (i.e., space-division multiple access or SDMA) by transmit beamforming at AP with multiple antennas. Consequently, higher spectral efficiency will be expected than that of single user transmission. We have proposed DL MU-MIMO related techniques and contributed to the activities of TGac. In this paper, we introduce recent trend in IEEE802.11 TGac and introduce our activities at TGac. Furthermore, we present indoor experimental results of real-time DL MU-MIMO transmission which supposes to PHY layer in TGac, and show that DL MU-MIMO is effective to improve the system throughput.
