An Analytic Solution for Diffusion Kurtosis Computation in Diffusion MR Imaging

(in English) Diffusion kurtosis is a parameter to quantify the non-Gaussian motion of water molecule, and is expected as a new diagnostic measure for differentiating pathological tissues from normal ones. Two major problems in computing diffusion kurtosis in diffusion MR images are; high computational cost, and low robustness for imaging noise. In this study, we develop an analytical method for the diffusion kurtosis computation based on simple calculus, and then regularize each diffusion weighted images in order to improve the computation robustness. Finally, some clinical experiments are also performed to prove the effectiveness and of our methods.
