Elasticity Evaluation of Regenerating Cartilage Tissue Based on Ultrasound Particle Velocity Measurement

(in English) It is important for regenerative medicine to evaluate the maturity of regenerating tissue. The maturity of regenerating tissue is closely related to the temporal changes of its elasticity. In this study, an elasticity evaluation method of extracted regenerating cartilage tissue was experimentally investigated based on the laser Doppler measurement of ultrasonic particle velocity. As the results of basic experiments using agar-based phantoms with different elastic modulus, this method can distinguish the difference of elasticity. Moreover, as the results of experiments using pieces of extracted regenerating cartilage, the difference of elasticity corresponding to the time-dependent progress of maturity in regenerating cartilage tissue can be detected.
