Contention resolution technique using output port reservation for input-queueing ATM switches

(in English) The reciprocal scheduling control, a new contention resolution technique for input-queueing ATM switches, is described. The proposed technique exploits time-reservation tables at both input and output ports unlike conventional techniques such as three-phase algorithm, scheduling algorithm, and iSLIP. Although the technique is in its infant stage of development, it is scalable with distributed and pipelined control, while achieving high throughput of nearly 100%. This report shows preliminary simulation results, suggests its potential performance, and discusses problems left for future study.
