Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Web services enable us to assemble various data and services to generate a new service. Many real-time Internet applications such as sensor data collection and remote control in these days use web services. Because an web service uses HTTP/TCP as its transport, it is normally difficult to apply low speed and long latency network such as ZigBee. In IETF, a simplified HTTP equivalent protocol referred to as CoAP/UDP has been developed. But its practical performance has not been reported thoroughly. In this report, we examine the fundamental perfor- mance of CoAP and reveal that even with CoAP we encounter un-negligible packet loss particularly in a multi-hop network. It is found that CoAP with ZigBee APS ACK network provides an efficient web service transportation over a ZigBee network.
