Having visited Cave No.3 of the Klasies River Mouth Caves, the oldest modern human site in the world with the confirmed human residence between 130,000 - 60,000 BP, in South Africa in 2007, the author started to contemplate on the origin and mechanism of language[1]. Inside-cave environments are extremely safe, quiet and dark which make residents sound-sensitive, and they consists of acoustic shelter where one can freely make sound without any danger. It is plausible that language and modern human were born inside cave.
Through interdisciplinary researches on linguistics, acoustic engineering, communication engineering, psychology, anthropology/primatology, neurophysiology, logistics, molecular biology and information theory, the author came to a hypothesis that the unique fundamental difference between human and non-human-animals lies in digitalization of vocal communications, i.e. language.
However, he could not find out any appropriate definition for 'digital'. Therefore, he went through the Information Theory classics such as Shannon, Wiener and von Neumann in order to explore and formulate an objective, necessary and sufficient definition for 'digital'. It became clear that the 'digital' concept is wider and deeper than expected, and that it is the principle which enables 'information networks' and 'self-reproducing automata'.
This article is going to define "information" which is to be logically processed in the higher "logical" layers, and generate appropriate actions for their survival. [2]. Information must be correct words, which are in accordance with the truth of things. |
