Removing the scalp blood flow artifact for functional near-infrared imaging

(in English) Functional near-infrared imaging is affected by the irrelevant signals mainly from blood flow change in the scalp. In this technical report, we proposed a hierarchical Bayesian method that removes the scalp blood flow artifact and estimates the hemodynamic response only in the cortex, by using the knowledge that the hemodynamic response in the cortex is local and that in the scalp are rather global. In simulation study, we show that our method can remove the scalp blood flow artifact and estimate the cortical activity with high accuracy.
