| (in English) | Japanese monkeys ({\it M. fuscata}) that are skilled at bipedalism show stablewalking. In this study, we analyzed the leg joint synergy in bipedal walking of Japanese monkeys by the UCM analysis and examined how hip, knee andankle joints cooperate so as to suppress the variances of toe positionand velocity relative to the hip position. The results show that the degree of joint synergy that suppresses the variance of the toe position becomes large at some moments such as the moment when the toe passes its lowest position. Some differences between monkey and human walking were also found, for instance, just before touch down, high degree of joint synergy was found in monkey walking, however, such characteristics was not found in human walking. These results suggest that there exist some differences in the control strategies of human and monkey bipedalism. | |
