Design Method for Visual Processing Algorithm Using Multi-Neuron Activity Data

(in English) We propose the method to develop a brain-like visual processing system using quantitative multi-neuron data and examine the whether the method works to do it by simulation data from artificial neural network as pseudo-brain. At the method, we try to extract the image feature represented well by activity of pseudo-brain with kernel canonical correlation analysis. The extracted features are probably effective to visual processing because they are utilized by high performance ‘brain’. Therefore, we identify the subspace spanned by such features and describe the similarity in the subspace as kernel called NC kernel. SVM inheriting the brain’s knowledge with the NC kernel can correctly discriminate test data which were not used for training and which SVM with Gaussian kernel never discriminate correctly. To identify the NC kernel, the data directly relating the problem that SVM should solve is not required. Then we argue that natural images are suitable for identification of the NC kernel in real situation. Finally, we discuss the merits achieved through proposed method.
