Design of PWM Pixel-parallel LSI Implementing Region/Boundary-based Coupled MRF Models for Coarse Image Region Segmentation

(in English) Coupled MRF models have been proposed as visual processing models that realize coarse image region segmentation. These models can perform smoothing and edge preserving of images simultaneously by adaptively controlling the interaction between processing elements corresponding to pixels. These models are classified into boundary- and region-based models, and an integrated circuit that implements both models has been proposed. Our previous report has indicated that the processing speed for coarse image region segmentation can be improved by using both models sequentially. In this report, we propose an improved large-scale integrated circuit (LSI) based on a pulse-modulation approach for coarse image region segmentation implementing both models. We also show circuit simulation results as well as the circuit layout design results.
