Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In recent years, due to the westernization of diet and lifestyle and lack of exercise, stroke patients increases.A carotid plaque is considered as one factor to trigger the stroke. The carotid plaque with low stable separates from the blood vessel and causes blockage in blood vessels.
Such the blockage causes stroke and vascular brain.Conventionally, medical doctors have observed with carotid plaque using ultrasonic echoes and diagnose by visual inspection for its stability. In this report, we propose a technique to detect the carotid plaque semi-automatically and specify several site on the supersonic echoes.Measure of the stability of the plaque is given based on the brightness of these specified sites.
