Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) This report considers an uplink OFDMA packet mobile communication system where plural packets of mobile stations (MSs) can be multiplexed within the same time and frequency-band. In such a system, multiuser detection (MUD) schemes that combine retransmitted packets and separate the multiplexed packets have been studied. The conventional MUD employed the maximum likelihood detection (MLD), and the number of the multiplexed packets was kept constant. In contrast, this report proposes turbo MUD (T-MUD) that enhances MLD to maximum a posteriori (MAP) detection by using bit log-likelihood ratios (LLRs) of the decoder output. To reduce the complexity of T-MUD, simplified T-MUD (ST-MUD) is proposed. ST-MUD replaces a replica signal of the MAP detection with a soft replica signal generated from a priori probability and then removes the soft replica signal from the received signal. After such cancellation, it suppresses a residual error of the soft replica cancellation by linear processing. For further more improvement of the throughput, this report also employs adaptive packet-multiplexing that increases the number of multiplexed packets expect in the first transmission. Computer simulations demonstrate that the proposed scheme employing both the MAP detection and the adaptive packet-multiplexing can achieve excellent throughput performance compared with the conventional one, and that despite low complexity, ST-MUD can achieve the same performance as T-MUD in the region of the high throughput.
