Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Recently, as a step of realizing ubiquitous society, high speed communication system between train and ground has been developed. We developed a high-speed FSO (free space optical) communication system using an infrared laser and a handover mechanism. This system is well designed and can be used in very poor weather without any interruption, except for the fact that the handover time is not as fast as required. There are two reasons for this. One is the big size mirror, and the other one is the slow mirror controlling of QD (quadrant photo diode). In this report, we propose a fast handover method based on PSD (position sensitive detector) sensor as a wide field detecting sensor. We describe its mechanism, and the details of its performance.
