Peak Power Reduction of OFDM Signals Using Trellis Shaping with M Algorithm

(in English) Trellis shaping (TS) is known as one of flexible methods to reduce peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) of OFDM signals. However, the conventional TS based on Viterbi Algorithm (VA) has a drawback that the computational complexity increases substantially as we increase the number of trellis states for effective PAPR reduction. In this paper, we propose the application of M algorithm (MA) to the TS for PAPR reduction of OFDM signals and investigate its performance compared with those achieved by the VA. Using the TS with the MA, we can reduce the computational complexity with PAPR reduction performance comparable to that of the VA.
