A Study on Vertical Pattern of Base Station Antennas for Base Station Cooperation System

(in English) Base Station Cooperation (BSC) is one of the key technologies for next generation cellular system.The BSC can improve poor channel capacity at the cell-edge unlike conventional single cellular systems.In the BSC system, it is necessary to design base station antenna.In conventional system, base station tilt angle is designed to reduce Inter-Cell Interference (ICI).However, since the problem of ICI is removed in the BSC system, base station tilt angle is required to be designed differently from the conventional way.In this paper, we consider the optimization of base station antenna tilt angle for the BSC system.We define an objective function to maximize channel capacity, and compare the optimal tilt angle of single basestation system with that of the BSC system.In addition, we also compare the achievable channel capacity using omni-directional antenna and with respect to using the dipole array antenna.
