Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) PUF is a method to derive ID information peculiar to a device by detecting random physical features that cannot be controlled during the device's manufacture. Because information such as the ID information is difficult to replicate, PUF is used as a technique to prevent forgery. This study proposes a new PUF based on ring oscillator PUF. When multiple ring oscillators with the same number of steps are mounted on ring oscillator PUF and clock signals are generated, the oscillators' frequencies differ slightly from each other because of the oscillator's dispersion, which is generated during their manufacture. The selectors select two of the multiple clock signals and input them to the counters. Because the clock signals' cycles differ, the difference in value between the two counters becomes random. By incorporating a mechanism to correct the oscillation frequency dispersion that results from the layout, the proposed PUF can generate ID accurately. Experiments using FPGAs verified the validity of the proposed PUF..
