The Derivation of the Optimal Radar Observation Parameter for Track Extraction of Moving Targets

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In track extraction using a radar , radar threshold must be lowered under low SNR environments, to maintain a certain target detection probability. However that increases the number of false alarms concurrently, which occur mis-associasion in tracking. The method, using Multiple Hypothesis Tracking(MHT) to avoid mis-association with the target track and false alarms, is well known. To utilize limited power effectively, we have to optimize observation interval and signal SNR in one scan, which have trade-off relationship. The track extraction performance of the MHT also depends on the radar threshold. In this paper, we derive the optimal radar parameters, including sampling interval and radar threshold. We also consider the faster derivation method, which reduces the radar parameter sets to be evaluated through simulations, using analysis of the track extraction performance.
