A Study on Simulation for Clutter Suppression for UWB Vehicle Radar at 24GHz

(in English) Recent year, 24/26GHz UWB radar is attracting the attention as short-range and wide-angle radar, which achieve surround sensing within a 30m in radius with several sensors. However, radar echo contains unwanted echoes as road clutter, which makes it difficult to detect some obstacles or targets. Therefore, we have investigated road clutter characteristics by 24GHz UWB radar using Akaike Information Criterion (AIC) and detection performance has been improved by Weight Pulse Integration (WPI) method which we proposed. To evaluate radar performance for radar system design, it is also important to quantitatively drive a false alarm rate and detection rate. In this report, the clutter suppression performance in the use of pulse integration method is discussed and quantitatively evaluated by conducting radar simulation which uses a clutter model.
