An improved bit flipping decoding algorithm based on messages of binary sequence

(in English) Though the iterative threshold of Bit-flipping (BF) decoding is less than that of belief-propagation (BP) decoding, BF decoding algorithm is an effective method compared with the BP decoding algorithm in term of the
decoding complexity. It is verified that the BF decoding shows an error floor when the channel error probability is small. To overcome this problem, S.K. Planjery, et. al. have proposed three bits BF decoding algorithm whosemessages are combined with an ordinarily binary message and two bits message which represents a reliability of a codeword bit. Although the decoding performance of three bits BF decoding on an error floor region is greater than that of the BF decoding, its decoding rule is so complicated that it can be applied to for only the regular LDPC
codes with variable node degree 3. In this paper, we propose a new three bit BF decoding algorithm applicable for the irregular LDPC codes. We also show by simulation results that the performance of the proposed new three bits BF decoding algorithm rule is better than that of the ordinarily three bits BF decoding algorithm. We also analytically derive the performance of both three bits BF decoding algorithms and compared them to show the effectiveness of our algorithm by the density evolution.
