A Study on Path Shadowing Model for Inter-Vehicle Communications in Urban Streets

(in English) This paper investigates a path shadowing model due to vehicles moving between transmitter and receiver, named shadowing vehicles below, for Inter-Vehicle Communications (IVC) systems in urban straight roads. In this paper, a radio propagation scenario where a transmitter, receiver, and the shadowing vehicles move with equal spaces in a driving lane is assumed, and a geometrically based mathematical model that expresses how many times the shadowing vehicles interrupt the specular paths predicted by ray-tracing techniques in a vacant straight road is constructed with respect to some parameters of the road width, the headway distance between vehicles, the antenna height, and so on. The proposed model can estimate the number of shadowing events in a general propagation scenario that has several lanes with different vehicle densities. The propagation loss predicted applying this proposed model is also shown.
