This report presents a broadband branch-line hybrid utilizing open-circuited interdigital sections as matching network. The broadband characteristics with flat power-split ratio are obtained by applying the matching technique based on a load decrement to the equivalent admittance of the quarter-wave branch-line. Each value of the characteristic impedances of the branch-line and open-circuited interdigital sections which compose the hybrid are uniquely determined by giving load resistance and tolerant reflection amplitude. In this report, the effectiveness of the proposed hybrid is verified through the simulation and measurement for a 2GHz band hybrid, which is fabricated using the tri-plate strip line. |
