A range resolution is one of radar performance parameters. Synthetic bandwidth radar is proposed to improve a range resolution. In this radar, transmitted frequency and down conversion frequency are shifted by a fixed frequency step from pulse to pulse. In order to improve a range resolution, received signal is synthesized with inverse Fourier transform. However, there is a problem of second echo in this radar since multiple pulses are utilized for high range resolution. Moreover, range shift occurs due to Doppler velocity. Thus, second echo suppression and Doppler velocity compensation are required to obtain accurate target range. We had proposed Doppler velocity measurement method for synthetic bandwidth radars. In this method, ascending frequency sequence and descending frequency sequence are transmitted alternately. In this paper, we show an experimental verification of the proposed method. |
