We are developing a new method using the ultrasonic longitudinal and torsional vibration of a hollow-type stepped horn with a diagonal slits for hole machining. In this paper, the longitudinal and torsional vibration characteristics of the horn with diagonal slits and the rod with diagonal slits are studied and the shape of the diagonal slits is examined. As a result, the conditions of the maximum torsional vibration on the tip were conceived that the center position of diagonal slits was the node position of longitudinal vibration, angle was 35 degrees and depth was 3.5 mm. It was clarified that the ultrasonic complex vibration of a horn can be used to hole machining of brittle materials. |
