Nonequilibrium Carrier Relaxation Dynamics in Optically Pumped Graphene and Population Inversion in Terahertz Range

(in English) We study theoretically the population inversion in terahertz (THz) frequency in intrinsic graphene under
optical pulse excitation. We develop the theoretical model of carrier relaxation dynamics based on the quasi-classi-
cal Boltzmann equation taking into account the quasi-equilibration by the carrier-carrier (CC) scattering and the
energy relaxation and recombination by the intra and interband optical phonon (OP) scattering. Using the model
developed, we demonstrate that the population inversion can be achieved under the pulse excitation, due to the
imbalance between the energy relaxation by the intraband OP emission and the recombination by the interband
OP emission.
