Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In order to investigate Web design suitable for senior users, we compared Web searching behaviors between senior and young users. We assumed that one of the good Web design for senior users is using metaphor. By using a book metaphor of Web content, we compared Web searching behaviors between metaphor condition and ordinary browser condition. Eleven senior users and ten young users participated in this experiment. There were no significant differences in success rates and the performing time period between senior and young users. The numbers of senior users prefer the metaphor condition were more than these of young users. These results imply that metaphor condition affects on the old users’ cognitive issues for example working memory.
