A Study on Efficiency Improvement for L-band 10W GaN HEMT Power Amplifier with Harmonic Injection

(in English) An experimental study of efficiency improvement by 2nd and 3rd harmonic injection has been done for L band 10W GaN HEMT amplifier with 2nd and 3rd harmonic injection ports at both input and output ports of the amplifier. As the results of this experiment, input harmonic injection to the amplifier is more effective than the output harmonic injection to it, and 2nd harmonic injection is more effective than 3rd harmonic injection at the condition of the same harmonic injection power level. By the input 2nd harmonic injection, the maximum power added efficiency of 61.4% and the efficiency improvement of 7.3% has been achieved for the amplifier.
