Investigation on Vowel Morphing using Interpolation of PARCOR Coefficients

(in English) We are investigating the voice morphing technique using vocal tract shape parameters. Normally, the voice morphing needs to find correspondences of the feature points, such as formant peaks, on the two vocal tract transfer functions. We have reported that quite smooth morphing had been achieved by the simple linear interpolation of the vocal tract shape parameters [2]. However, it is not clear why the smooth morphing is possible by this simple method, and the verification of the range of application is needed.
So, we compared our method to the formant parameter interpolation method. The result showed they are quite similar to each other. And, the morphing of the vocal tract shape parameters doesn’t collapse even if the correspondences of the formants between 2 vowels couldn’t be determined easily. Furthermore, subjective test including natural voice resulted the voice quality of this method is equivalent to natural voice. On the other hand, the degradations are observed with some specific combination of vowels.
