| (in English) | The research topics on color images may be classified into several categories – topics in which colors are physically handled, topics in which the color science is taken into account, and topics where psychological phenomena induced by colors are discussed. Among the technical topics, the first category is called ‘photometric processing’, and the second category is called ‘colorimetric processing’. The photometric processing has been studied in the computer vision field, while the colorimetric processing has been studied in the field of the color management for hard copy and soft copy reproduction, and in the field of signal processing. The image processing for displaying colors is studied also in the field of computer graphics. In the field of color design or color harmony, psychological phenomena induced by colors are studied. To every research field, it is important to apply the physiological research result of human color vision. As color relates to so wide research fields, and the characteristics of the research fields or the research communities are so different from each other, the research results in one research field are not well known in other research fields. The research topics studied by the author are (1) color image display, (2) color reproduction in hard and soft copies, (3) color image segmentation, (4) the development of the standard object color spectra, and (5) the three-dimensional shape measurement. In this presentation, the author would like to introduce the topics, which are not familiar but may be useful in the near future, to the people in this interest group (PRMU). |
