A spinal cord of vertebrates has a number of complicated neuronal circuities, including a central pattern generator (CPG) which can produce cyclic movements such as walking and swimming in the absence of rhythmic input and afferent feedback. The mechanism of rhythm generation for CPG has been divided into two alternative hypotheses, pacemaker hypothesis and network one. In this study, we construct a CPG model based on two hypotheses by tuning three parameters of a given CPG circuity model. we analyze the mechanisms for generation of alternating burst in the model based on characteristics of single neurons enbeded in the network. |
