Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Passive Optical Network (PON) systems based on the Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) have been widely installed to economically provide optical access services. When a rogue ONU transmits upstream optical signals over its time slot by some failures, it prevents other ONUs from transmitting their upstream signals. In this paper, we propose and demonstrate the rogue ONU isolation method with Multi-Point Control Protocol (MPCP) messages standardized by IEEE802.3ah. We show that the rogue ONU can be isolated even when the optical power level of a disturbing light is larger by 18 dB than that of other normal ONUs by controlling ONUs to periodically emit light.
