Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) We have cognitive maps, and move to our destination with using it as cues. We think that characteristics of cognitive map are distortion and orientation of maps. In the present research, we investigated effects which are given to cognitive maps by orientation of maps when people describe. Participants are college students, and we made them describe maps which contained the main landmarks in the campus where they went. The results implied that formation of cognitive map were different by the orientation map which were described. When ones move to the direction which is natural for them, errors are small compared to the others who do not feel the direction natural. The result showed that we could describe cognitive maps correctly when we have images about navigations to the direction in our daily lives.
