A proposal of the intuitive interface system that can be substituted for UI devices -- Importance of physical object's presence in monocular optical see-through HMDs --

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) This paper proposes the approach to substitute objects around us for several electronic devices. As the first step to implementing this approach, this paper introduces a way of substituting a file for a touch panel display. A monocular optical see-through HMD is suitable for the proposed method. Therefore we studied about the effect of object’s presence among three cases: there is an object to project a virtual image in user's hand, there is another object to get a sense of the distance to the projected image and there is no object in user’s vision. Experimental results show that the object in user's hand is effective in the interaction with a virtual image.
