| (in English) | We propose a method for improving the performance of the polarity lexicon extraction based on a spin model. In the scheme, a lexical network is constructed on the basis of glosses in a dictionary, a thesaurus and a corpus. A polarity lexicon is built by regarding semantic orientations of words on the network as Ising spin variables of statistical mechanics and evaluating thermal averages of the Ising spins. In the naive model proposed in the earlier work, the system exhibits a ferromagnetic phase transition when the temperature is lowered below a certain critical value, which drastically deteriorates the performance of the polarity lexicon. We show that the ferromagnetic transition can be avoided by removing the component of the largest eigenvalue from the connectivity matrix. This leads to a considerable improvement of the extraction of semantic orientations based on spin model without scacrifi cing the cost of necessary computation. |
