| (in English) | Using Stenocaption and the software which presents with pronunciation alongside Chinese Characters according to grade, we have developed a system that presents speech content using sentences containing kana and Chinese characters that are presented with pronunciation alongside Chinese Characters. The pronunciation alongside Chinese characters can be adjusted to one of nine grade categories to match the reader’s literacy level. We describe the functions, characteristics, and speech content presentation methods of the system. As part of our efforts to provide good comprehension to hearing-impaired students using the system, we used the system in a lecture. After the lecture, we distributed a questionnaire to the hearing-impaired students to inquire about the effectiveness of the system with pronunciation alongside Chinese characters according to grade. By analyzing the questionnaire results, we were able to verify the effects and usefulness of pronunciation alongside Chinese characters according to grade. | |
