In an inorganic lateral DC-electroluminescence (DCEL) device combined with conductive ZnO nanorods(NRs), ZnS:Mn as EL phosphor on ZnO NRs was deposited by an EB method and a CVD method. Differences of deposition morphology of ZnS:Mn between both methods have made different device structures, resulting in a considerable difference in their device characteristics. The spacing between two side electrodes was 2mm. The device by EB method exhibited the high luminance, 3406cd/m2, at the low DC operation voltage, 56V, although the device had poor uniformity in EL emission area and poor luminous efficiency. On the other hand, the device by CVD methods exhibited good uniformity in EL emission area. The device, however, required the high operation voltage, 9kV, which is the same order of magnitude as that of the past lateral DCEL devices. |
